  3. My great grandfather was William Grate, m. to Elizabeth Grimes. I have the death certificates. William died while living with a daughter in Arizona. He was named after his grandfather, his fathers name was Matthew. William and Elizabeth’s children was my Grandfather Otho Clyde Grate. Does this fit in with anyone’s family. Dinah

  4. John Grate is my Great Great Uncle. His Brother William was my Grandmother’s Father. (technicaly he is my Great Uncle, my Grandmother adopted me from her Son.) I am looking forward to this spectacular day!

  5. My mothers maiden name is Dorothy Grate, granddaughter of Eli Grate, who was John Grate’s brother. So J.G. was my mother’s great uncle.
Since he was my great-great uncle, mom got a kick out of saying “great great Uncle John Grate”.

Theresa, William Grate was not J.G.s brother-you skipped a generation.

  6. Well thank you for straightening that up Dean!

John’s brother, Eli Hampton Grate, was my mother’s grandfather. I am sorry we weren’t aware of the events honoring Uncle John in 2009.

In spite of her age, my mother’s memory is sharp and she is still very interested in the family.

Hi Teresa, Hope this finds you well and happy.
